Former Bayern Munich Defender Dante Hits Out At Pep Guardiola
Former Bayern Munich defender Dante has slammed his old boss Pep Guardiola, saying that players “don’t know where they stand” under the Catalan.
Dante, 32, was signed from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2012 and became an integral part of Jupp Heynckes’ treble-winning side. However, despite Guardiola wishing that “he had a 1,000 Dantes” last year, the Brazilian defender failed to convince the Catalan and joined VfL Wolfsburg in August 2015.
The defender moved to Nice this summer, joining forces with his former boss at Gladbach, Lucien Favre, but told Sport Bild about his experiences with Guardiola at Bayern.
“He doesn’t speak to you — as a player you don’t know where you stand,” he said. “There’s trainers who are world-class tactically, but less brilliant as human beings — like Guardiola.”
Dante also issued stinging criticism of previous employers Wolfsburg.
“You always need a plan and goals in life. But Wolfsburg isn’t a project and no longer has any ambition,” he added.
