You Can’t Rig In Ondo – Oke Tells APC

The candidate of the Alliance for Democracy in the November 26, 2016, governorship election in Ondo State, Chief Olusola Oke, has told members of the All Progressives Congress that they would not be allowed to use ‘federal might’ to rig the forthcoming election.
He alleged that some members of the APC were boasting to use Federal Government’s influence to rig the election, stressing that the era of election rigging and the use of ‘federal might’ to rig had gone forever.
Oke, who spoke through the Chairman of his Media and Publicity, Mr. Kolawole Olabisi, in Akure on Thursday, warned that those planning to rig should be ready to face the full wrath of the people of the state.
He noted that the electoral process in Nigeria had grown beyond the era of ballot box snatching and stuffing, calling on those who might be contemplating such acts to perish the thought.
He said, “We have a President, who is a democrat and a complete gentleman, one who does not believe in this rigging plan that the members of his party are preaching.

“Those who believe in snatching of ballot boxes should know that that belonged to the past, it is now anachronistic. Those who think that results can be manufactured for them and be announced should know that that is no longer fashionable.”
The Deputy Chairman of the APC in Ondo State, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, however, denied that members of the party were relying on ‘federal might’ to manipulate the election.
Adetimehin said, “The APC is not a party of rogues; we are preparing for the election like other political parties. We are law abiding. We all know that President Muhammadu Buhari will never support rigging; so, I don’t know why Oke is bringing that allegation.
“Oke’s problem is that he knows he cannot defeat Akeredolu in the election; that is why he is coming up with this frivolous allegation.”
Meanwhile, a group has advised the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, not to turn himself to an agent of destabilisation on the issue of governorship election in the state.
The group, under the auspices of Ondo Young Leaders in the Diaspora, in a statement on Thursday by its President, Mr. Tomide Akinribido, alleged that Ibrahim was being used by some members of the APC to cause confusion in the PDP.
