Full Celebrity Profile: Bowoto Jephta (Akpororo)
Bowoto Jephta, professionally known by his stage name as Akpororo is a Nigerian comedian, singer and dancer. He has performed in many comedy concerts in Nigeria like AY Live show, Basketmouth’s Laff and jams, Acapella’s Comedy goes to church. He is also the brain behind Akproro VS Akpororo. He married longtime girlfriend Josephine Abraham on the 14th of November 2015.
Akpororo was born in Ilaje local government area in Ondo State but was raised in the city of Warri, Delta State, but is originally from Ogun State. He is the first son from a family of five. He is currently studying Sociology at Lagos State University, Lagos.
Akpororo’s journey into the comedy business began when he registered for Opa Williams’ National Comedy Challenge. He was the best from the Calabar Zone, but at the national level, the judges weren’t convinced he was Nigeria’s best so didn’t win the competition. He registered for AY’s Open Mic Challenge and came second in the competition. He was determined to win and then tried again in AY’s Open Mic Challenge and gave it all his best and this time won.
After he was crowned the winner of AY’s Open Mic in 2008, he became very hungry to be successful in the comedy industry so he begged to perform free at events. Later he got bookings for shows and in one of those shows, he was told to perform for a fee of one thousand naira (N1000) and was paid only six hundred naira (N600). According to him, till date the organizers are yet to pay the balance.
In 2010, Akpororo gained popularity at Basketmouth’s Laff and Jam comedy show in Ikoyi. He entertained the audience with a joke about the testimony of a mad man in a church. The performance marked the turning point of his life
The Ilaje born comedian is not just the comedian with too much swag and anointing, he has much more to give to his fans. He is a multi-talented man. He plays football, basketball and table tennis. He also sings dances and swims. He may just launch into the music industry fully or become an athlete tomorrow.
Akpororo is also Gospel musician with a strong passion for singing praises to God. He is a co-ordinator of Ojo Mass Choir and a director of a dance group, he also organizes an annual programme tagged ‘Ojo Mega Praise Jam’ in Okokomaiko hood in Lagos, Nigeria. Akpororo has recorded and released his singles titled “Days of Elijah” and “Thank Am o”
Akpororo displayed his acting skills in Comedy films like Head gone a film produced by popular music artist sound sultan which also featured Ali baba, Baba Dee, Eniola Badmos, Zack Orji, Basorge Tariah Jnr and Tuface Idibia.
He anchors a motivational comedy radio programme on Naija FM “Morning Run”

Akpororo’s crazy, energetic, ingenious and hilarious performances have earned him nominations for several awards and he has won many of these awards such as Naija 102.7 Fm’s Comedian of the year Award.
