AFCON: We Must Learn From Guinea-Bissau Draw – Gabon Captain Aubameyang
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang says Gabon must learn a lesson from their 1-1 draw with Guinea-Bissau in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations’ opening match.
Hosts Gabon looked to be on course for a victory in their opening Africa Cup of Nations Group A match on Saturday, but they allowed Guinea-Bissau to claim an equaliser and the match ended 1-1.
Aubameyang, who opened the scoring in favour of the Panthers, hopes they learn a lesson from the match.
“It’s not an ideal start. The first half was difficult. We were a bit tense at the start, but in the second half played with more freedom,” Aubameyang said on beIN Sport.
“Unfortunately, we conceded a goal that we shouldn’t have conceded at the end. We shouldn’t have given the foul away.
“It will teach us not to repeat the same mistakes. We’re going to pick up two more wins. We remain positive, we’re at home.
“We made a mistake, we will change course and win the next game.”
Gabon will face Burkina Faso on January 18 in their next Group A clash in Libreville.
